JUROR

Nancy Sausser

Nancy Sausser has been the Exhibitions Director at McLean Project for the Arts since October of 2005.  She has been curating exhibitions for over twenty years, previously at Montpelier Cultural Arts Center and Harmony Hall Regional Center, both in Maryland.  In addition, she has worked to bring more art into the public schools as the Arts in Education Director at the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County.  A sculptor and arts writer as well as a curator, her writing has been featured in publications such as the Washington Post and FiberArts Magazine.  Nancy holds a B.A. in Studio Art from Kenyon College and an MFA in Sculpture form the University of Washington.

GUIDELINES

Media

Only original works not previously shown at RMA will be accepted. All media, styles and techniques are eligible.

Eligibility

Artists age 18 and up are eligible for entry.

Entry Requirements

Artists may submit a maximum of three (3) images of individual works. Slides must be standard 2”x 2” 35mm, placed in a slide sheet. Each slide must be labeled on the front with the following information: artist’s name? title of work? year completed? medium? dimensions? and either the sales price or not for sale(NFS) insurance value. On the upper right hand corner of each slide, place an arrow indicating “top.” Indicate in the lower left corner of each slide the slide number corresponding to the image description area of the application form.
You may submit digital images on a compact disc 300 dpi resolution, jpeg format.
Each file name must follow this precise format: It should include your last name, first name, the image number (1–3) as it corresponds to the image description form on the application, and the title.

Slides/CDs will not be returned for selected works. Slides/CDs submitted must be of works available for the duration of the exhibition. No substitutions or extractions will be allowed once selected.

Entry Checklist:
- Slide or CD images marked appropriately (see requirements)
- Completed and signed application form
 -Self addressed, stamped envelope
- Legal sized envelope for notification of acceptance and return of slides. Name and return address must appear on the envelope.
- Cash, check, or money order

Selected Works

Slides/CDs will not be returned for selected works. Works selected for exhibition must have a completed label affixed to the lower right hand corner on the back of the work. Label must include the artist’s name, address, telephone number, title of work, medium, year the work was completed, dimensions and the price or NFS insurance value.  All works must be suitably framed and ready for installation.
Two- dimensional work must not exceed 6’ vertical and 8’
horizontal, including the frame. The installation of three- dimensional works requiring special handling must be coordinated with the director. RMA reserves the right to exclude any work from the exhibition. RMA reserves the right to photograph and reproduce any work for publicity purposes.

Entry Fee: $25

All fees are nonrefundable. Submit cash, check, or money order payable to RMA. Entry Fee includes a one-year membership to RMA.
Member benefits include invitations to all RMA openings, a subscription to RMA’s quarterly newsletter, and discounts on studio school art classes.

Entry Deadline

Completed applications must be received by 5pm on Friday, April 11th, 2008. Incomplete or late entries will be returned at the artist’s expense.

Delivery and Pickup of Work

Shipped work must be in reusable packing materials and accompanied by a check or money order covering return freight. No COD arrangements will be made. Shipped work arriving without the proper return preparations will not be the responsibility of RMA. Insurance coverage for works in transit to and from RMA is the responsibility of the artist. Works not retrieved by July 21, 2008 becomes property of RMA.

Commission

RMA will charge a 25% commission on the sales price of any works sold during the exhibition.

Jurying and Notification

Jurors will review all entries and make selections. Notification of acceptance will be
mailed by May 6, 2008. Information regarding acceptance will not be available until that time. No telephone inquiries, please.
